# GET /v1/balances — Query Subaccount Venue Balances

> Retrieve cash and collateral balances for a subaccount across Demo, Polymarket, and Kalshi prediction market venues. Endpoint: GET /v1/balances.

Call `client.portfolio.balances()` to retrieve the current cash and collateral balances for a subaccount across all supported prediction market venues — Demo, Polymarket, and Kalshi. The response contains one balance record per venue that the subaccount holds funds at, giving you a consolidated view of available capital before placing orders.

## Method

client.portfolio.balances(subaccount_id)
```

**Endpoint:** `GET /v1/balances`

## Example

## Parameters

  The subaccount whose balances to retrieve.

## Response

The endpoint returns a list of balance objects, one per venue. Common fields:

  The venue name. One of `Demo`, `Polymarket`, or `Kalshi`.

<ResponseField name="available" type="string">
  Available balance (not locked in open orders) as a decimal string.
</ResponseField>

<ResponseField name="total" type="string">
  Total balance including amounts locked in open orders, as a decimal string.
</ResponseField>

## Notes

  Subscribe to the `/v1/ws/balances` WebSocket stream to receive balance updates in real time as orders fill or funds settle. See the [WebSocket overview](/api/websockets/overview) for connection details.

<Note>
  Balances are reported at the subaccount level and denominated in the collateral currency of each venue.
